Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Commercial Slab Leak

This YMCA experienced a water loss due to a "slab leak".  A slab leak is an industry term used to describe a leak that has developed in the copper water lines running below the concrete foundation of a building.  33 rooms and approximately 23,000 square feet became wet as a result of this slab leak.

One of the first things our crews did when they arrived on site was to "block" the furniture in classrooms & offices.  When we "block" furniture, we put it up on Styrofoam blocks to prevent water damage to the furniture and to prevent paints & stains on the furniture from leaching into the carpet.

We also extracted water, removed cove/molding, drilled holes behind where the cove/molding was so that air movers could circulate air behind the drywall to dry it in place versus replacing it, and sprayed anti-microbial to inhibit the growth of bacteria and mold.

While the carpet in the after photo is dry and bacteria & mold free, you can see that some water marks/stains remain.  The mitigation portion of any job involves mitigating the damage, which in a water loss situation involves drying the structure and it's contents.  Cleaning the carpet or putting things back together after mitigation is part of the rebuild process where we make it "like it never even happened".  In this case, our carpet cleaning experts removed those stains so that it truly was "Like it never even happened."
